POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is a Computer Aided Engineering role for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a solid background in material properties of steel and lifecycle analysis. The role will involve designing and analyzing components for severe duty using Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.

STRUCTURE:

Reports directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering, working closely with the Director of Catalyst Systems, Applications Engineers, Design Drafting, and third-party consultants.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Prepare and review component designs using AutoDesk Inventor
  • Develop FEA models to evaluate component stresses for steady-state and transient temperatures and pressures
  • Coordinate CFD analysis and physical flow modeling programs with third-party firms with the goal of developing in-house CFD capabilities.
  • Perform lifecycle analysis to evaluate potential failures from low-cycle fatigue, high-cycle fatigue, creep, and thermal shock
  • Document results for customers and internal review.
  • Communicate design best practices to the engineering and design drafting team
  • Participate in the product and project design review process

CORE COMPETENCIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on the core competencies listed above
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • CAD experience, AutoDesk Inventor preferred
  • FEA experience
  • CFD experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated and capable of self-directed professional development
