POSITION OVERVIEW

The Estimator is responsible for the preliminary design and pricing of turnkey metal building structures and coordination of specific disciplines. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary.

STRUCTURE

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Proposals and Estimating – Noise Management.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY

• Responsible for the preparation of preliminary planning and estimating
• Building long-term relations with suppliers and contractors
• Coordinates preliminary designs and budgets with electrical, mechanical and field operation disciplines
• Recording and evaluating bids from multiple vendors and subcontractors
• Responsible for writing Scope of Work (RFQs) specifications and bid pricing spreadsheet
• Responsible for soliciting vendor quotes in conjunction with Procurement
• Required to attend pre-bid and design meetings
• Assists with Change Orders to operations as required
• Ensures company procedures and policies are adhered to and followed
• Estimating scopes such as: material take-off, coordination with union and non-union contractors, review and consolidation of third-party quotes, preparation and completion of final estimates, completion of bid forms, and estimate review with applicable Energy Link team.
• Preparation of proposals
• Assist in responding to Bid Clarification questions
• Assists in finding ways to reduce costs of equipment and supplies

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Experience with general contracting construction environment is mandatory
• Strong math skills
• Ability to navigate specifications and plans
• Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects
• Ability to handle multiple assignments at once
• Close attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Post-secondary education in a related field coupled with 5 years’ experience in an estimating position related to general contracting construction
• Degree in engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or construction engineering an asset
• Certificate in general construction, roofing, mechanical, electrician etc. an asset
